My wife is from Brazil and comes from a large, close-knit family. Brazilian culture is defined by strong family values and deep family ties. Celebrations, birthdays and special occasions are shared generously with loved ones. Hospitality and openness come naturally, as does the important role of music and dance in everyday life.

Despite the many advantages of living in the Netherlands, the distance from our family can sometimes be difficult for my wife. We take every opportunity to travel to Fortaleza to spend time with our loved ones while also enjoying a well-deserved holiday.

Fortunately, remote working, partly made possible through the changes that followed the pandemic, has opened many doors for us. ScTiger and our current client are open to this way of working, which allows us to stay in Brazil for longer periods. As a result, we are now able to align work and private life much more naturally, which has significantly improved our lives.

Because of remote working, I can adjust my schedule to the time difference between the Netherlands and Brazil. Although I get up early, around 5:30 in the morning, to start work at about 6:00, I am able to finish earlier in the afternoon and spend more time with my family.

In Brazil, I maintain an active lifestyle and regularly exercise with my brother-in-law. We play tennis, beach tennis and basketball, and we also go mountain biking. I am also a big fan of Brazilian food. My mind goes straight to barbecue, especially the delicious grilled shrimp and picanha.

In addition to vibrant cities like Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil offers an impressive variety of natural beauty. I fully enjoy the beaches, sunsets, coastal walks, buggy rides and the refreshing sea air. The savanna, with its unique landscape and sense of adventure, is also one of my favorite destinations.

In short, remote working has enriched our lives by creating a harmonious balance between work, family and the beauty of Brazilian culture.
