On September 28, 2024, the annual IT4Kids Gala took place at the iconic Studio 21, and once again it was an unforgettable evening. This year’s theme, “The Club Edition,” created an energetic atmosphere, immersing guests in a festive, club-inspired setting.

An unforgettable evening for a meaningful cause

The gala, hosted by the ever-charismatic Xander de Buisonjé, was a great success. Xander guided the evening with flair and created a warm and uplifting atmosphere. He also brought the event to a memorable close with a spectacular musical performance.

A remarkable amount raised for an important cause

This year, the IT4Kids Gala raised a record amount of more than €1 million. The funds will be used to create lasting sports opportunities for children who are financially disadvantaged or living with physical challenges. Sport is about more than physical activity. It helps children develop essential skills such as self-confidence, perseverance and teamwork, skills for life that prepare them for a better future.

A celebration with outstanding food and well-known names

During the evening, guests enjoyed an exceptional dinner prepared by renowned chef Rudolf van Veen. His culinary creations made the event even more special and gave the gala a distinctive sense of elegance. But the gala was about more than fine dining and entertainment. Leading Dutch sports figures such as Richard Krajicek, Esther Vergeer, Sanne Wevers, Lucia Marthas and Sven Kramer were present to show their support for IT4Kids. These athletes understand better than anyone how important it is for children to have the opportunity to play sports, regardless of their background or physical limitations.

Why this support is so important

The importance of this cause cannot be overstated. In the Netherlands, around 500,000 households live in poverty. This means that in an average classroom, 2 to 3 children do not have access to sport. In addition, between 1.5 and 1.9 million households face serious financial concerns, making the cost of sports membership unaffordable for many families. As a result, many children are unable to take part in sports activities, even though sport plays an important role in their physical and social development.

For children with physical challenges, the picture is even more concerning. Only 25 percent of these children participate in sports activities, and as many as 70 percent say they feel lonely. These are figures that cannot be ignored. The work of IT4Kids helps these children by involving them in sport and giving them the opportunities they deserve.
